Prime Minister’s Scholarship Scheme 2024 For Students

The Prime Minister’s Scholarship Scheme for Wards of States/UTs Police Personnel (PMSS) is a Central Government initiative supporting the dependent children of police personnel who have lost their lives in the line of duty, particularly during terrorist or Naxal attacks. Implemented by the Welfare and Rehabilitation Board (WARB) under the Ministry of Home Affairs, the scheme provides financial assistance to help these children pursue higher education.

Who is eligible?

  • Dependent wards of State/UT Police personnel martyred in terrorist or Naxal attacks.
  • Applicants pursuing their first professional degree program in Engineering, Medicine, Dental, Veterinary, BBA, BCA, B.Sc., B.A., B.Com., B.Ed., LLB, or equivalent.
  • Minimum 60% marks in the qualifying examination (10+2/Diploma/Graduation).
  • Unmarried and below 25 years of age (relaxation for SC/ST/OBC and differently-abled).

  • Monthly scholarship amount:
    • ₹3,000 for girls
    • ₹2,500 for boys
  • Scholarship duration: Up to 5 years or the entire course duration, whichever is earlier.
  • No application fee.

How to apply?

  • Applications are accepted online through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP 2.0).
  • The application window usually opens in October and closes in December.
  • Required documents include:
    • Proof of identity and date of birth
    • Death certificate of deceased parent
    • PPO/Discharge certificate/book
    • Marksheets of qualifying examination and previous semesters (if applicable)
    • Disability certificate (if applicable)
    • Bank account details
